Paraguay is a landlocked country having a total area of 406,752 km2, which is located in the center of South America, reason why it is called the “South America’s heart”. Through its boundaries, which account for 3,484 km of extension, the Republic of Paraguay has boundaries with three big countries: Brazil, Bolivia and Argentina.
At North, it borders on Brazil and Bolivia and East on Brazil and Argentina and South on Argentina and West on Argentina and Bolivia.
Economic Activity: cattle breeding, agriculture (soybean, maize, wheat, sesame, cotton).
Official Language: Spanish and Guarani (Aborigine language are part of cultural patrimony of the Nation).
Currency: Guaraní (1 US$ = 4000 Gs. as of January, 2013)
Although Paraguay is a landlocked country, it is feasible, logistically speaking, to ship containers in fluvial vessels at the port of Asunción and ports around Asunción thanks to the existence of the fluvial waterway made up by Paraguay and Parana rivers; which have as primary destination the transshipment maritime ports of Montevideo and Buenos Aires. From those ports, they are shipped to their final destinations of Europe and United States of America.
